STEM Academy 2019

 

With the aims to bring forth the essence of STEM through integrating engineering with mathematical and science theories, the Faculty of Engineering and the Science Academy for Young Talent, the Faculty of Science of the CUHK will jointly organize a STEM course - “STEM1020 Robotics in the Real-World” in the coming summer 2019.

The course targeted at S6 or equivalent students, it comprises of 60 contact hours and will last for 2 weeks. Lectures and lab activities will be arranged so that students can learn about the components of the robotic system and gain hands-on experience in commanding robot arms to perform different tasks. Through taking the course it is expected that students’ ability in analytical and problem-solving will be enhanced.

Upon completion of the courses and the fulfillment of its requirements, students will be granted 3 University Credits that they can apply for credit exemption when they study at CUHK. The course fee will be HK$3,500 and students who attend all the lessons will be granted a scholarship of HK$1,000. For students who are receiving financial assistance, such as Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme, the School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme and the Student Travel Subsidy (STS) Scheme, can apply for fee remission at a rate of 50% to 100% subject to the final approval of the Academy.

Date: 19-21, 24-28 June & 2-5 July 2018 *

Application Fee: HKD 20

Course Fee: HKD 3,500 (Students who attend all sessions will be granted HKD 1,000 scholarship)

Application period: 18 February to 31 March 2019

Expected applicants: S6 Students or equivalent students who must have taken at least one science course (including Biology, Chemistry, Combined Science, Physics, Information and Communication Technology, Design and Applied Technology, Mathematics ExtendedModule 1 or 2)

* 2 days are reserved for make-up classes in case there is any cancellation of classes due to bad weather or other unexpected factors.
