The Faculty of Science is equipped with world-class facilities, and is committed to research of both breadth and depth. Our teachers are dedicated and determined researchers whose success can be reflected by the number of quality research papers published and the many competitive grants, prizes and awards that they have won as individuals or as part of a team. The University Grants Committee (UGC) has selected 24 Areas of Excellence (AoE) projects from eight tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, and FOUR of them are led by members of CUHK Science Faculty.

The Faculty research has secured a significant amount of research funds across the years. The funding recognises the endeavour of our scientists and advances the state-of-the-art facilities at our Faculty, helps us to further enhance our cutting-edge research and becomes the leader of the diverse research areas in the world. Our scientists will continue to devote themselves to expanding the frontier of human knowledge and contributing to the improvement of human life.
